The Pinnacle of Academic Excellence and Responsibility, The National Honor Society (NHS) at Erie High School stands as a testament to the values of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

First and foremost, the NHS is focused on academic achievement. Members of the society are among the brightest and most dedicated students at our school, consistently excelling in their studies and serving as role models for their peers. With a minimum GPA requirement and a difficult selection process, admission into the NHS is evidence to one’s commitment to their studies. Cole Reseigh , a Sophomore at Erie High School and is currently on NHS. “I really enjoy the NHS, besides the fact it’s exciting to be in a group that is so select. It is great for meeting new people and learning good life skills.”

Beyond academic excellence, the NHS places a strong emphasis on leadership. Members are encouraged to take on leadership roles both within the organization and throughout the school community. Whether it’s organizing school events, leading community service projects, or representing the school at conferences and competitions, NHS members are provided with ample opportunities to develop and showcase their leadership skills. Service is another core tenet of the NHS experience.

Members are expected to actively engage in community service projects, volunteering their time and talents to make a positive impact in the lives of others. From organizing food drives to participating in environmental clean-up efforts, NHS members at Erie High School are dedicated to serving their community and addressing the needs of those around them.

Character is the final pillar they have, and may be the most important. Members of the society are held to the highest standards of integrity, honesty, and respect. They are expected to demonstrate excellent behavior both inside and outside of the classroom, serving as positive role models for their peers and embodying the values of good citizenship.
