Holidays at EHS

Holidays at EHS

In a heartwarming display of holiday unity, Erie High School has transformed into a festive hub of Christmas spirit, highlighted by the student government’s enchanting bake sale and the rich tapestry of diverse holiday celebrations.

The student government’s bake sale, a tradition that has been spreading joy, featured an array of delectable treats that delighted both the sweet tooth and the holiday spirit. From gingerbread cookies to very well decorated cupcakes, the school’s halls were infused with the delightful scent of seasonal delights, bringing students and staff together in the holiday season. Renee Laczkowski a Senior stated “For the four years I’ve been at Erie high school there has always been a lot of focus around the holidays and including everyone”.

Notably, the funds raised during the bake sale are earmarked showcasing the students’ commitment to giving back to the community during this season of giving. The event not only served as a fundraiser but also fostered a sense of connection among the student body, as they worked collaboratively to create a festive atmosphere that transcended the classroom. Kaylea Ure, a sophomore at Erie high school states “The bake sale was really fun to go to and be able to enjoy and eat all the sweets that were made”.

What makes Erie High School’s celebration truly special is the recognition and embrace of the diversity of holiday traditions within its student body. The school’s inclusive approach acknowledges that not everyone celebrates Christmas, and various holidays are honored and respected.

Students from diverse cultural backgrounds took the opportunity to share their unique holiday traditions, creating a mosaic of celebrations that reflected the rich tapestry of the student body. From Hanukkah and Kwanzaa to Diwali and Lunar New Year, Erie High School became a place of cultural celebration, fostering an environment of understanding and appreciation for the different ways people mark the holiday season.

The school’s commitment to inclusivity extends beyond the classroom, as collaborative efforts between students and faculty aim to ensure that everyone feels represented and celebrated during this joyous time of the year. Erie High School’s dedication to embracing the Christmas spirit in all its forms sets an inspiring example for fostering unity and goodwill, making it a beacon of festive cheer in the community.
