Erie Cheer Takes Home a State Title

Sydney Parrish, Staff Writer

The Erie Tigers Cheer team has taken the state title for 4A Cheer this year! After going into finals in first place, they continued to compete at their finest on Day 2 to take home the title.

After a stellar performance, the Tigers were announced as champions late tonight. The last state championship for an Erie Spirit team was 2007. After an 11 year drought, Erie finally is taking home a championship.

This is the first state championship for Erie of the year after multiple state appearances in different sports. The last state championship for Erie was in 2010 for softball.

After months of hard work, these girls will take home a state title to a school that hasn’t seen one in 8 years. For a small town like Erie, this is an amazing feat.

Sam Wessbecker says, “This team has really gone through it all and nothing but hard work, love, commitment, 5 am practices, and tears went into this championship. We owe all our success to our coach Nora, our loving fans and supporters, and the sisterhood and family we’ve created in this team.”

Make sure to congratulate these incredible athletes on such a great season that ended in best possible outcome. The team will be traveling to Nationals in Florida in February in hopes again to do amazing things.

Erie Poms also competed in Finals, and took home a top 5 finish
