The beloved Erie Community Library recently passed its ten year anniversary in Erie. So, the library staff threw a birthday party for the library that took place on January 12, 2018. This event took place all day and had activities for everyone.
The morning started off with storytime in the storytime room. The story was told by one of the staff members, Kristin. This story took place from ten in the morning.
The living room is in the center of the library with a fireplace, couches, and workspace. The festivities continued in this room with a photo booth that lasted from eleven in the morning to four in the afternoon. There was a shimmery background on one of the back walls that consisted of pink, blue, and purple colors. There were many props and librarians nearby to print out the photos taken for free on their wireless printer.
By saying there were activities for anyone that is true. Anyone could go to the children’s area and do crafts of many varieties, in addition to button making with their button maker that has previously come out for many occasions. The buttons we similar to pins with clips on the back so you can attach it to your clothing.
At noon and at three in the afternoon, people could enjoy some hot chocolate and enjoy some cake. They had a total of four cakes from Costco, two chocolate and two vanilla. That means at these times there were two cakes.
Heather Stenner made a special appearance in the meeting room from two thirty to three thirty. Stenner did a musical performance for the younger kids and sang many varieties of songs including Happy Birthday to the library.
In the children’s area there was the opportunity to get glitter tattoos, a painted face, and receive some balloon animals. This lasted from three in the afternoon to five in the afternoon.
The teen area near the front entrance of the library had many things going on. On a table there was many library mugs with hot chocolate packets. Each family could get one mug. On the next table was a raffle station where they raffled off a white library vest and a yeti mug. Finally, this area also included an area with announcements on the upcoming library expansion. There was also a board where they took suggestions to improve the library.
Lisa Varra, one of the library staff members commented, “We could not have put the party together without each other. We all contributed in some way and I am really proud of how everything turned out.”
