The Erie Tigers High School lacrosse team has had an exciting season this year. Known for their strong team spirit and determination, they have become a powerhouse in their division. The team consists of talented players who all bring something unique to the field, from their amazing stick skills to their solid defense. This year, the Tigers are looking to make it to the playoffs, and a statement for their first year in 5a, everyone is hoping they can go all the way.
One of the standout players this season is sophomore attacker Cooper Novak. Novak has been a consistent game changer is known for his speed and agility, and hard work. “I’ve been working all summer and winter for these moments, and it’s really paying off,” Novak said. “Our team has a lot of potential, and I think we can go really far if we all stay focused.”
The Erie Tigers’ defense has also been a key factor in their success. Junior defenseman Ewan Pantier has been a rock on the field, stopping many fast breaks and protecting their goal. “Defense is all about communication,” Pantier explained, “We all trust each other, and that makes a huge difference. We’ve been getting better at working as a unit, which is something we’ve focused on in practice.”
The team’s coach, Nick Mandia, has been a big influence on the team’s growth. He believes in hard work and pushing the players to be their best. Coach Mandia has led the team to a 4a championship in 2023 but sadly lost, but came back and won the 2024 state championship. Now they are looking to make a impact in their first year in 5a.
The Tigers are known for their high-energy games and exciting plays. With every win, the team builds more confidence. Players like Novak and Pantier have shown that even the toughest competition can be overcome with dedication. As the season continues, the Erie Tigers are looking to bring their best to every game and make their school proud.
In the upcoming games, the Tigers will face some of their biggest challenges, but if they keep working together and playing their best, there’s no doubt that they’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the state playoffs.
