The Erie High School girls’ soccer team is gearing up for an exciting new season, with players and coaches hopeful for a strong performance in the coming months. After months of off-season training, the Tigers are ready to take the field and prove themselves against tough competition.
Last season, the Tigers finished with a respectable record but fell short in the playoffs. This year, the team is determined to make a deeper run.
“I’m very excited for like a new team,” Chase Waneka said. “I think we are gonna do really good I’m really excited.”
One of the biggest challenges for Erie this season will be replacing its graduating seniors, who anchored the team last year. However, Sophomore Taylin Maynes is ready to step up and take on a leadership role. “We have a lot of incoming talent that I think will add a lot to the team,” Maynes said. “The seniors last year brought a lot of spirit and talent but this season I think we will be just fine.”
“I’m super excited for our new coaches. I think they carry a lot of skill,” Danika Ferrari said. “They seem to have good heads on their shoulders and know what they are doing.”
Beyond the competition, the players are looking forward to building lasting memories on and off the field. Sophomore Elodie Kirchoffner reflected on what the season means to her. “It will definitely be challenging moving from 4A to 5A but it’s going to be a good challenge and grow our program a lot.”
With a blend of seasoned leaders and rising stars, Erie High School’s girls’ soccer team is ready to take on the challenges ahead. Fans can expect a season filled with determination, passion, and, hopefully, plenty of victories.
