The National Honor Society (NHS) at Erie High School is currently hosting a highly successful food drive that showcases the students’ commitment to giving back to their community. The initiative, organized by NHS members, aime to collect non-perishable food items to support local families in need, especially as the holiday season approaches.
The food drive encouraged students, staff, and families to donate canned goods, boxed meals, and other essential food products. NHS members set up collection bins across the school, making it easy for everyone to contribute. The response was overwhelming, with generous donations pouring in from all corners of the school community.
The donations are collected and sorted by NHS members before being delivered to local food banks and community organizations. These donations will help ensure that local families have access to nutritious meals, especially during a time when many are facing financial challenges. One student explained “The food drive will help out all those less fortunate in and around Erie”
In addition to the direct impact on the community, the food drive allows students to reflect on the importance of service and empathy. For many, it is a reminder that small acts of kindness can have a big impact, and that together, they can create a stronger, more supportive community. The NHS food drive at Erie High School is a shining example of how youth leadership can make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
