With the mixed bag of emotions, the softball team says their farewells to the last years talented Class of 2024, whose contributions have left a permanent mark on the program and was almost able to take home the state title.Despite them leaving, the team is determined to carry on the legacy of excellence. Holding a strong win streak of 11, with the record of 13-6 , with many hopeful more wins to come. With each game, the team continues to strive for greatness and the goal to keep transcending throught-out the season, to finally make it to state and bring home the title of this year’s softball state champions.
As these ladies fight for state, they are making huge improvements. They started the season with a bit of a rough start, record being 2-6, but then as they climbed they are now on a 13 game winning streak. After taking huge losses against Broomfield and Columbine, the team amped up their game to start their even bigger win streak, and start to dominate schools such as Skyline with a final score of 22-0. Essentially, the softball team is going up in rankings every single week. With all the practice, and wins, these tigers will compete in regionals this month, and then potentially venture off to state.
“After the class of 2024 left, I’d say we definitely lost some offensive power but we are slowly figuring our way back out” Avery Barnes, junior on varsity states. This year coaches and players were worried about how this year was gonna look after losing the impressive class of 2024. “There’s been a lot of changes with figuring out our new team chemistry, but I feel like we are figuring it out more and more each day and the results are being shown.” – Erin Young. Young being one of the softball captains, she has been in and out of this returning process and challenges when the previous class leaves. However, this year the girls are making a surprisingly almost unbelievable turnout, even without the star players last year such as Addie Osborne,Gabriella Gracious, and many other talented ladies. This season, Sydnie Snook and Haylie Rosetti made an impressive run to become our leaders, the team’s most recent win over Longmont where the team had an noteworthy show on offense with a batting average of 0.478 and two home runs. These ladies are bringing their A game this season.
As regionals are coming up October 18th and 19th these ladies will put their skills to the test to see if they can make it to state again this year. Overall these girls will not let anything stop them, whether it’s rainy days, losing stronger athletes, or even new abstract changes in the coaching and field time. This season is their comeback season, working to prove not just to the viewers but also themselves that they can and will win state this year.
