As finals week approaches, many students scramble to study, get last-minute assignments done, or even work on upcoming projects. Many students end up turning to the Erie Community Library for a place to work. Since January 2008, people have been coming to the library to share their love for reading.
Emma Bryan, a junior at Erie High School, feels that the library can be less distracting than being at home. “I can’t easily get sidetracked while studying for my finals.” The library is quiet and has many different areas to work. Whether you want to study on a comfy couch or sit at a desk, the library has it. They even have study rooms that you can sign up for. They are secluded and offer a really quiet environment.
The library is not just a haven for students trying to cram. They have many events catering to people of all ages. Kristin Jardein, a librarian at the library, discusses how one of her favorite events that the library has is their Storytimes. “We do multiple story times a week for kids about ages zero to five, and we read books, and we sing songs, and the puppets come out and say hello, and it’s just very sweet,” she says.
The Erie Community Library fosters a welcoming environment for readers of all ages. Kristin Jardein explains her favorite part of working there. “It is really cool to see families grow and change, and kids get older, and everybody is still excited to read.” The Erie library is a quiet oasis for students going through the chaos of finals and hosts events for people of all ages, making it a beloved community space since 2008.
