The Company That Has Held the Top Spot for Years

One of the most well known companies to ever sell apparel and shoes has been able to remain at the top of the list. Nike has a yearly revenue 34.46 billion dollars. This was marked from 5/31/16 – 5/31/17. Nike is projected to constantly rise in annual profit, and consistently drop hot new shoes for customers to buy. Nike has not let any buyer down and has always received some of the best reviews.

By Nike’s own research, the swoosh brand is recognized by 97% of Americans. Nike’s review are very positive. After interviewing ninth grader, Robert Welch, we got an opinion from a huge Nike fan. “Nike is the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. It also makes it easy to constantly be moving around because the shoe has great fitting, and the shoe is an amazing support mechanism,” Welch said. Welch also stated, “Nike is the only shoe I wear and will ever wear. I will continue to buy the new shoes they release because they have never disappointed me.” Nike still sells more than 160 million pairs of athletic shoes a year, and nearly one out of every two pairs of those shoes are sold in the United States.

Nike’s top competitor for high quality shoes is Under Armour. Under Armour has always managed to stay in the race with Nike. Under armor was established in 1996 and Nike was established in 1964. Two of the newest shoe/apparel companies are on top of the list. Due to Nike being around longer, they are more well known and more popular. Under Armour remains about 30 billion dollars behind Nike in yearly revenue, but is looking to rise dramatically and be head to head with Nike.

Just a year ago, on Nike’s 25th birthday, coming off the best financial year in the history of the company, there was no hint of a future without the swoosh. Nike changed the way the well known swoosh looked liked just four years ago. The logo has not had a dramatic change, but has evolutionized into what it is today.

A huge reason for Nike’s sales is the basketball shoes. ”The reason the basketball shoes have worked so well is because 80% of the people who buy them use them as a fashion statement,” says Vince Francom, a footwear-industry analyst. Nike’s shoes are not just one of the most sturdy or comfortable shoes, but they also are very very appealing. It also helps when huge stars like LeBron James and Odell Beckham Jr. have a contract through Nike. When these stars are seen with their signature shoes in games or on the street people want to have the same shoes they do.

Nike is still building its roster, which now has more than 3,000 athletes in the fold worldwide, including 72% of the players in the National Basketball Association, 60% in Major League Baseball, and half of the players in the National Football League. Their company is still on the rise and will constantly be one of the top shoes ever, and at very least having historically the best salary and reviews ever.
